Don’t Confuse Me With The Facts! :-)
(Click picture to zoom!)
The whole family recently received this Calvin and Hobbes cartoon from a friend to serve as a reminder that we are often not separated from the rest of history merely by time. The tendency throughout the ages — and we are no better than those of the past, unless we choose to be! — is to ignore the facts starring us right in the face, in lieu of “personal preferences” or comfort zones, convenience, or just “that’s the way it’s always been.” Aside from many Biblical examples, Copernicus, Galileo, Martin Luther, William Tyndale and many, many others can tell you, most people just don’t want to be “confused by the facts” (usually when something for them is at stake…) :-)
Even so, God’s always Faithful, even through cute little “cartoons” like Calvin and Hobbes, to make sure we keep fresh eyes towards Him and Truth! :-) God says “My Words will never change,” but certainly our insight and understanding of how to apply God’s Truth has taken some necessary turns over the centuries. Following a Risen and Alive Jesus is always Full of Surprises!!
