We recently had a fairly significant teaching sent to us by way of another brother in Africa who heard the teaching first-hand (I believe?) while it was extemporaneously spoken a number of years ago. It was a GREAT teaching at the time and still is, especially when placed against the backdrop of common Americanized “churchianity.”
A lot of people ask us why we do the things we do (or don’t do) and this teaching is at least a partial answer to that and it’s not very long. Also… if you’ve ever been uneasy with someone asking you “Where do you go to church?” and you just HATE answering with the standard “answer” (“I go to such and such a building/location”) because deep down you know it’s about WAY MORE than that, but just have never really found the words (because you know Jesus hates division), then this may help as well.
This is a little long to place on a blog posting, so this is on a separate page if you want to read it there. This would allow you to pass it along more easily if it somehow “rings true” in your heart as well.
