Wrong will be Right, when Aslan comes in Sight
At the Sound of His Roar, sorrows will be no more.
When He Bares His teeth, winter meets its death!
And when Aslan shakes His Mane… We shall have Spring again!
–C.S. Lewis

In the legendary series of books by C.S. Lewis known as The Chronicles of Narnia, there comes a time in the first book entitled The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, when the queen exclaims indignantly, as her power over Narnia is being broken and her artificial winter of death and tyranny (of sin) is fading away… “This is no ordinary thaw! This is Spring!! This is Aslan’s Doing!!

As we considered what to call this whole thing here on the internet (you gotta give it a name, I guess!), we thought of many things, but when that phrase “no ordinary thaw” popped up in conversation, it just seemed to “fit” for a lot of reasons. One of the biggest reasons is that Aslan (eg. Jesus) did come into our lives in a very definite way a while back, and Shook His Big Mane… and us with it. And the “winter of death” in our hearts was Permanently Thawed — death to self, death to the world, death to “religion” and everything else that isn’t Really Him or of Him. Until there’s nothing left but ONLY Him. (Hebrews 12:26-28) “And this is Aslan’s doing!” as the queen (eg. satan) so indignantly exclaimed. Indeed it was.

And I guess the “title” for all this is all the more made “appropriate” due to the fact we live in the bitter cold of Minnesota. :-) It does get rather cold here from time to time, we suppose, but… Thanks to Jesus, it’s always Spring in our hearts due to “no ordinary thaw.”
